Youth Leadership & Civic Action
Support Moldova’s Rising Generation: Invest in Youth Leadership and Civic Action
In Moldova—a strong, principled leadership has never been more urgent. At this critical moment, young people are stepping up to lead with integrity, creativity, and grit. Friends of Moldova supports locally led initiatives that empower youth to become agents of change in their communities—when and where it matters most.
From creating after-school leadership clubs to launching youth-run community centers, these projects cultivate essential life skills, promote civic responsibility, and strengthen Moldova’s social fabric. In Hîncești town, the NextStep youth hub has helped over 230 students explore real-world careers and grow confident in their paths forward. In the village of Selemet, 19 high school students from the Local Youth Council transformed their town’s public library into a civic center—hosting debates, community meetings, and volunteer-led events that bring generations together and put young people at the forefront of decision-making. By leading outdoor camps for over 1,200 young people, A.O. Galata from Chisinau city empowered youth to reconnect, collaborate, and grow stronger together after the isolating effects of the pandemic. Through diverse community-based activities—from sports and cooking to intergenerational support—Hope Our Țambula cultivates socially responsible, well-rounded young leaders. Pomul Vieții from Chisinau city gives vulnerable youth hands-on experience in environmental stewardship and social entrepreneurship, transforming ability into opportunity and impact.
These aren’t one-off events—they spark lasting leadership. While the featured projects are already complete, your support will fund the next wave of youth-led initiatives across Moldova. Locally designed and sustained, each project makes every dollar count.
Why Focus on Youth and Civic Engagement?
- Moldova is losing its young people to emigration. These initiatives offer them a reason to stay—and build.
- When young people are trusted with real responsibility and given the tools to act, they develop the agency to shape their communities—and the values to defend them.
- Civic skills are foundational community strengths—building trust, participation, and local solutions from the ground up.
