Eco Village – AO Avânt

The project at EcoVillage Moldova (A.O. Avânt) marked one of the initiatives funded by the Dan Kane Fund. The goal was to further the capacity of their Environmental Training Center, and they were able to achieve significant results.
A new dining area, accommodating up to 35 people, became operational in April 2024. Since then, the space has hosted 30 events and allowed 610 participants from Moldova and international groups in 6 months to benefit from qualitative, comfortable, impactful educational opportunities.
Accommodation rooms were improved with hand-made clothes racks and tables for guest comfort.
Energy efficiency at the ETC was significantly boosted with the installation of a 7 kWh photovoltaic system in mid-June, cutting the June electric bill to one-fifth of May’s, despite a 50% increase in training days and participants. Overall energy costs have dropped by 40% in the past 6 months. The solar system now serves as a demonstration during energy efficiency trainings for rural participants and allows the ETC to function independently of the local electrical grid.
Additionally, 81 students from rural schools have been able to visit EcoVillage Moldova, where they learn about sustainability practices, broadening the center’s educational reach.
